**This position begins June 1, 2025**
The School Principal for the James E. Davis School will provide leadership and serve as the school and educational leaders responsible for development, implementation, supervision and evaluation of a comprehensive program of educational services. The School Principal will direct and motivate instructional and support personnel to provide the best possible opportunities for student growth and development, both educationally and personally.
- Establish a plan for the education of each resident, based on the resident’s individual needs, special abilities, and past educational history.
- Administer the operations of the on-grounds school during the academic school year and summer session as follows:
- Assist with scheduling, curriculum development and selection of students.
- Order and maintain appropriate curriculum and related school materials.
- Supervise equipment, cleanliness and general upkeep of the school building.
- Assist teachers with discipline.
- Foster good interpersonal relations among staff and students.
- Interview prospective teacher applicants.
- Orient new teachers to the Agency and to the school program.
- Provide on-going supervision to teachers, complete evaluations of job performance and employment summaries.
- Develop new educational programs as needed.
- Communicate student progress and behavior to Social Work Supervisor, Directors of Residential Services and Social Workers.
- Creating and maintaining all databases and spreadsheets related to student behavior and academics
- Communicate with the Indiana Department of Education in all matters regarding
- Maintaining and assuring data integrity through our School Information System as it integrates with IDOE DEX (Data Exchange)
- Preparing computer. training for and administering all state tests including ILEARN, SAT, and WIDA
- Maintaining Accreditation of James E Davis School
- Plan for, budget, and act as State and local Liaison regarding Title I funding
- Roles and Responsibilities in addition to those typically assigned to a principal
- IDOE Data Intake, reporting and Coordination
- Guidance – generating and maintaining student transcripts and schedules
- CTC and STC (Corporation and School Test Coordinator)
- Serve as liaison to the Lebanon Community Schools as follows:
- Coordinate the on-grounds school with the Lebanon Community Schools.
- Assist with enrollments, scheduling, withdrawals and purchase of materials for students in public school
- Keep appropriate IUMCH staff aware of student progress, schedule changes, calendar events, etc., involving the public schools.
- Assist with behavior and discipline involving the public schools.
- Interpret the IUMCH program and the individual needs of students to the teachers and staff of the public schools.
- Oversee related school activities.
- Maintain accurate educational records on students for transfer purposes.
- Keep abreast of trends, developments and research as they pertain to education and school operations.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees and in-service training as required.
- Maintain regular contact Residential Supervisors and Directors of Residential Services to ensure cooperative directions in programming.
- Perform such other duties and assume such other responsibilities as the Executive Director/CEO and Residential Supervisor may assign.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
This position requires a Master’s Degree in Education, and must hold a valid State of Indiana Principal’s License.
Skills, Competencies and Qualifications
- Must be at least 21.
- Must be dependable regarding work schedule and punctuality.
- Have working and operational knowledge of Microsoft office necessary to achieve documentation and communication requirements. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio).
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to effectively communicate by written skill.
- Ability to accurately complete written forms, reports, requests, and other communication and meet deadlines.
- Possess a high level of ethical conduct, including the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Thoroughness, accuracy, and accountability for results. Excellent attention to detail.
- Exceptional ability to multitask.
- Ability to handle frustration, frequent changes in plans, and process requests from several staff members.
- Ability to function in team setting.
- Excellent verbal communication skills in order to interact with external relations, residents, and staff.
- Following job offer must complete a physical examination and drug screen as well as all other pre-employment requirements including an extensive criminal background check.
- Must be able to pass annual background checks.
- Must hold a valid Driver’s License and able to be insured by IUMCH’s insurance carrier. Must be able to drive an IUMCH vehicle.
