TECHNICAL PROJECT MANAGER (AUSTIN, TX)
Join the trailblazers at Indie Energy, a fast-growing team supporting North America’s largest Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage projects. As a Technical Project Manager, you’ll take the lead on full-cycle project execution—power system design, hardware delivery, SCADA configuration, site commissioning, energy market qualification, and stakeholder engagement. You’ll champion technical excellence and project accountability, while driving innovation across our Indie Platform and Project Management System.
What You’ll Be Doing
Lead Full Lifecycle Project Execution
- Design, build, and deliver system hardware and control systems
- Commission renewable energy sites and prepare for energy market qualification
- Own key deliverables including I/O lists, control narratives, and SAT Test Procedures
Proactive Project Management
- Intake scope and customer alignment at kickoff
- Maintain Notion Lookahead with accurate resource loading
- Manage budgets, schedules, and time tracking throughout lifecycle
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Align support engineering resources for seamless execution
- Facilitate clear, frequent communication with stakeholders and clients
- Advocate for early deployment and project momentum
Technical Assurance & Change Control
- Perform QA Checklist reviews (Design, Pre-deployment, Closeout)
- Ensure scope adherence; initiate change orders when needed
- Keep all efforts aligned with proposal documents and strategic objectives
Operational Excellence
- Track task progress and spending using standardized tools
- Manage workflow automation, databases, and scripting (Python preferred)
- Promote cybersecurity and network integrity through proactive design reviews
What You’ll Bring
- 3 years of hands-on project management experience in technical energy environments
- Strong understanding of power systems fundamentals
- Proven success deploying SCADA and control systems
- Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-disciplinary teams
- Bonus Points (Preferred)
- Experience leading PV/BESS projects through commissioning stages
- Familiarity with ERCOT, CAISO, and other market operators
- Knowledge of IEEE 1547, 2800, NERC CIP
- Familiarity with SCADA/OT protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA, and TCP/IP
- Exposure to network architecture and security protocols
