Machinist

Summary

Industrial Inspection & Analysis is looking for a full-time Machinist to join our team at our lab location in St. Louis, MO. The Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating a range of different machines, performing simple to complex machining operations using manually operated equipment.

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to produce metal samples
• Determines how much material to remove, calculates where to cut or bore, and selects tools and material for the job
• Plans the sequence of cutting and finishing operations and monitors and controls feed rate and speed
• Maintains quality and safety standards and maintains supplies and equipment

Required Qualifications  

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 1 years of machining experience in a production or manufacturing environment
• Ability to operate standard and specialized equipment
• Ability to understand, follow and enforce safety procedures
• Ability to understand and maintain project schedules
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Valid state driver’s license
• Knowledge and compliance of workplace health and safety standards

Desired Qualifications

• 2 years of machining experience in a production or manufacturing environment
• Technical certifications or technical degree in related field

Working Conditions

• Typical working hours are from 8am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, although extended hours and weekend shifts may be required on occasion
• Regularly exposed to high-speed machinery and mechanical parts
• Occasionally exposed to humid conditions, climate/weather variations
• Occasionally exposed to acetone, solvents, grease, cutting fluids, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic and/or caustic chemicals

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to be extremely accurate when working with their hands and arms
• Must be able to regularly walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Must be able to occasionally lift and/or push up to 60 lbs.
• Must meet vision requirements for the job, including near vision, color vision, and depth perception
