Summary of Position:
The Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Technician I is responsible for monitoring food safety controls, quality attributes, the plant environment and GMPs. The FSQA Technician is responsible for assessing the quality and safety of the product during production. The position conducts quantitative and qualitative checks on product quality, enforces GMPs and reports issues in a timely manner. This level entry position will train with direct supervision until the mastery of one processing line is completed. Levels of progression are determined by evaluation by FSQA Manager or Director.

Job Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conduct and document process-checks for food safety and/or quality with supervision. FSQA Technician must demonstrate proficiency in using analytical instruments for one line:
- pH measurements
- Temperature readings
- Color analysis
- Solids, consistency, and other quality attributes
- FSQA Technicians must understand and show proficiency in monitoring and documenting critical food safety checks and how they relate to HACCP, and Preventative Control based Food Safety plans. Examples of such checks include:
- Metal detector checks
- Magnet checks
- Understand and demonstrate aseptic sampling techniques for microbiological sampling.
- GMP and process area monitoring.
- Record-keeping. This includes filling out calibration, lot tracking and process monitoring paperwork.
- Report any product that is out of compliance, or deviations to appropriate lead person.
- Stop the line if there is a quality or safety issue.
- Place product on hold if there is a quality issue.
Qualifications:
•High school, or related job experience preferred.
•Some agricultural, food processing and general manufacturing process and equipment experience.
•Attention to detail for record-keeping and able to follow directions.
