Position Overview
This DSO Infrastructure Administrator is responsible for installing, operating, and maintenance of the VMware virtualization infrastructure for NORAD NISSC II. As an Infrastructure Admin you will be expected to provide a higher level of end user support to the customer. The administrator is expected to work with Mission Assurance Center (MAC) support teams to diagnose and troubleshoot various technical issues. Develops tooling and processes to drive and improve customer experience, creates documentation, and provides mentoring on customer related issues to support teams. This DSO Infrastructure administrator is expected to take initiative and advise on potential pitfalls that may be encountered and suggest alternatives which may better serve the stability, performance, and security of DoD virtualization solutions. The administrator is also responsible for enforcing DoD security policies and procedures and any other relevant policies and standards as directed.
Primary Responsibilities
Typical Duties Include:
- Develop and/or update DoDAF viewpoints to align with technical baseline documentation.
- Augment existing DoDAF models by incorporating.
- Provide technical leadership for systems engineering teams including MBSE mentorship.
- Participate in collaborative engineering/development processes.
- Support efforts to augment existing, independent DoDAF viewpoints into a comprehensive model.
- Work with enterprise architect and technical teams to develop “To-Be” DoDAF viewpoints.
Minimum Qualifications
- Some experience configuring and managing VMware vCenter Server or VMware Cloud Foundation.
- Some experience with VMware ESXi server administration.
- Some experience working with vRealize Suite or VMware Aria.
- Some experience with Dell VxRail in a Hyper Converged Infrastructure (HCI) or a similar technology.
- Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, Load Balancing).
- Knowledge on how to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in test and production environments.
- Some experience with automating routine tasks with Python, PowerShell or VMware Power CLI.
- Strong analytical and problems-solving skills.
- Experience with DoD Risk Management Frame (RMF) within a VMware environment.
- Working knowledge of vRealize Suite products or Aria Universal Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- VMware certification within the last 3 years.
- Strong IT hardware and operations background with hands-on expertise in servers, storage and network device installation, provisioning, and monitoring.
- VMware environment administration, configuration, and monitoring.
- Experience working with vRealize Log Insight, vRealize Operations Manager, Workspace One Access and vRealize Lifecycle Manager.
- Experience working with VMware Horizon.
- Systems administrator and RMF experience in a DoD closed environment.
- Capable of multi-tasking and strong project and time management skills.
- Talent for problem solving, problem resolution, and skilled in deconflicting priorities.
Education/Experience
Associate degree in a STEM related field to the position OR 1-4 years of experience equivalent to a degree, OR combination of education, certifications and experience.
Desired: 1-3 years of experience performing sysadmin related job functions.
Desired: 1-3 years of experience working with VMware vSphere 7 in a production and or testing environment.
Clearance Requirement
Secret with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI
