Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Performance Test Engineer with deep expertise in k6 to lead performance and load testing initiatives across complex systems. The ideal candidate will play a key role in planning, designing, and executing performance tests, analyzing results, and working with cross-functional teams to optimize application performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead performance testing strategy, planning, and execution using k6 (both open-source and cloud versions).
Design and develop robust, reusable, and parameterized performance test scripts in JavaScript (k6 scripting).
Simulate high-load scenarios, stress tests, and soak tests for APIs, web applications, and microservices.
Analyze test results to identify bottlenecks and performance issues across front-end, backend, and database layers.
Collaborate with DevOps, Developers, and Architects to ensure performance objectives are built into the CI/CD pipeline.
Define performance SLAs and ensure compliance across environments.
Guide junior performance testers and provide code reviews and best practices for k6 testing.
Generate detailed test reports with recommendations and communicate findings to stakeholders.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
7 years of experience in performance testing and engineering.
Strong hands-on experience with k6 including scripting, scenario modeling, and result interpretation.
Proficient in JavaScript for writing k6 test scripts.
Experience with Grafana, Prometheus, InfluxDB, or other APM tools for monitoring and metrics.
Good understanding of HTTP, REST, WebSockets, and microservices architectures.
Solid knowledge of CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and distributed load testing.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience integrating k6 tests into CI/CD pipelines.
Familiarity with other performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling) is a plus.
Experience with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
ISTQB Performance Tester certification or similar is a plus.
