Responsibilities
- Complete projects, report status, and document lessons in an efficient manner. Utilize project management tools in establishing timelines, building action items lists, assigning responsibility, completion dates and achieving milestones.
- Lead flawless launch activities and solicit active participation in feasibility meetings, FMEA, DFM, part print review, tool design review and kaizen events using cross-functional teams.
- Provide timely support to the quoting team in determining the most efficient manufacturing methods and tool design concepts for competitive, prompt RFQ responses.
- Interface with the sales team and customers to clearly define requirements and specifications.
- Develop and implement new processes, tooling, and manufacturing concepts, working closely with vendors to meet customer expectations for cost, quality, and delivery.
- Execute validation and qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) protocols for new products, equipment, tooling, and processes, and follow SOPs for re-validation of existing systems.
- Provide technical assistance and engineering support to the manufacturing floor, ensuring quality production and on-time delivery, while working with Quality Control to maintain and implement project-related documentation such as work instructions, control plans, and process guides.
- Lead process improvement and waste elimination efforts through Lean principles and participate in continuous improvement events.
- Bachelor of science in a related engineering field from a four-year college or university.
- 5 years of relevant experience in the Medical Device Industry.
- Must have advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Minitab (or other statistical analysis software).
- 3 years of experience in CAD modeling, ideally with SolidWorks or a similar system, and experienced with Windows-based applications such as Visual ERP.
- Project Ownership & Execution: Demonstrates ability for executing complex engineering projects from concept to completion, applying project management skills to drive technical solutions, meet milestones, and deliver custom manufacturing outcomes.
- Technical Design & Automation Integration: Applies advanced engineering principles to design and implement automated systems and tooling. Proficient in CAD modeling (e.g., SolidWorks) and translating operational needs into technical specifications.
- Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement: Identifies inefficiencies across molding, extrusion, and assembly operations. Applies lean methodologies to streamline processes, reduce waste, and improve overall production performance.
- Cross-functional Collaboration & Communication: Effectively partners with internal teams and external vendors. Communicates clearly across disciplines to align project goals, share updates, and drive consensus throughout the project lifecycle.
- Adaptability & Problem Solving in Ambiguous Environments: Thrives in dynamic, fast-paced settings with limited procedural structure. Demonstrates resilience and resourcefulness in navigating ambiguity and building scalable solutions from the ground up.
