YOUR ROLE
Are you known for your leadership skills and passionate about warehousing & logistics? Do you enjoy working in a clean and efficient warehouse environment? Do you have high integrity, strong decision making and can manage an operation without management onsite? If so, we have an opportunity that would allow you to execute essential operational processes and contribute to delivering results in a safe and efficient warehouse operation. The Supervisor coordinates daily operation of production with responsibility for achieving maximum quality and cost effectiveness in an on-time and efficient manner. This role actively participates in all areas of employment, performance evaluations, associate relations, and associate development while promoting total employee involvement.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
- Ensures a safe work place is provided for all employees. Frequently inspects department for safety compliance. Completes accident reports and schedules appropriate follow-up reviews.
- Lead and accelerate improvements in safety, quality, inventory, productivity, delivery and engagement by effectively leading the Lean Transformation.
- Support and drive the Lean Transformation at the Charlotte Distribution Center through the effective use of standard work, visual management, 9-Step Problem Solving and other Lean tools to identify and eliminate waste, and improve the value proposition to customers.
- Support the site EH&S program in improvements, investigations and corrective actions to meet and exceed IR standards, and applicable governmental regulations.
- Support the site quality system in procedures and controls to improve overall customer satisfaction, DPPM (Defects Parts Per Million), first pass yield and warranty results.
- Be proactive and responsive to all facets of customer satisfaction including delivery, schedule changes and special instructions.
- Maintain a positive rapport with all levels of the organization in order to foster and promote a diverse and inclusive work environment, high levels of morale, and high employee engagement.
- Collaborate with all levels of the organization to ensure alignment of goals and progress towards them along with short term and long term needs and plans.
- Supervise the activities of production associates to achieve objectives with regard to quality, cost and time. Evaluates the performance of associates and completes necessary reports. Recommends merit increases and training/development needs.
- Reviews daily and weekly schedules and production capabilities to assure all deadlines are met.
- Supervises the utilization of materials to assure an appropriate amount of parts are available to maintain smooth production flow; identifies wasteful practices and methods; reports any problems/concerns with viable solutions to the Manager, Production; and, reports suggestions recommended by associates for procedure change, etc.
- Promotes and supports the company's efforts in associate involvement concepts, and "open door" communications through the development and or implementation of various programs.
- Promotes commitment to quality through attitude, behavior, communication, and development/implementation of programs and activities.
- Communicates/updates shift management of daily problems and concerns, identifying areas needing attention to ensure the continuity of the operation.
- Develops a strong rapport with other departments to create a collaborative environment.
- Drives ideal behaviors with more focus on the “how” versus the result
- Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- High school diploma/General Education Degree (GED) and/or equivalent work experience
- Previous Material Handling experience (cherry/reach lift experience preferred)
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to follow through on commitments and details.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skill.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred or currently seeking a degree. Direct relevant experience will be considered.
- Preferred experience with leading leaders of direct reports
- Oracle or other WMS experience preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in building people and process capability through Operational Excellence / Lean, and improving the engagement and culture of the plant workforce.
- Experience in analyzing data for implementation of change, projects or coaching
- Experience implementing Lean Transformation in a manufacturing or distribution environment is required.
- Proven experience developing or mentoring employees for advancement.
- Experience taking on new work and learning new functionality outside of daily scope of work.
- Strong proficiency in utilizing and coaching associates on standard work, visual management, and problem solving.
- Intermediate/Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
- Experience in an Operations role that covers multiple areas/departments of an operation.
- Desire and ability to continue growth within the organization
- Work requires periodic stooping/bending and frequent walking/standing throughout day.
- Requires occasional lifting of objects.
- Work involves activities that require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, machines, or power equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Standing and/or walking for entire shift and ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
- Bending and/or stooping repeatedly throughout shift
- Lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds unassisted
- Be able to work in a non-climate controlled environment
- Requires use of protective gear, glasses, vests, shoes etc.
