We are looking for a Sales Manager, Cosmetics & Personal Care with tangible sales and business development experience to lead Ingevity’s entry into these consumer markets. This individual will be responsible for screening target products and applications, presenting initial market analysis and scoping, developing customer relationships in new application areas, drafting business plans for entry, and transacting with new customers. You’ll need to understand the importance of strong partnerships, and to think strategically to initiate, cultivate and fortify these relationships with customers and sales channel partners. You’ll develop and execute customer development plans and programs to successfully execute a sales strategy which reflect the competitive activities, market trends, and opportunities that you uncover. This will require an individual that is a great communicator who is highly motivated, proactive and results-oriented, with a prolific track record of building productive partnerships, both externally and internally. This person will be accountable for engaging and transacting with external organizations and we expect you to bring the following skills with you: The ability to create year-over-year sustainable growth through your mastery of value-based selling by: (i) identifying and cultivating sales channel opportunities and converting these efforts into new revenue streams; (ii) building a strong pipeline of opportunities; (iii) leveraging your sales experience to both large and small accounts; and, (iv) undertaking the account planning, preparation, follow up, and connecting the dots to make the sale. The ability to leverage your experience to think strategically and entrepreneurially in identifying customer opportunities and initiate the communication and cultivation of the relationship with these prospects. This includes a background in both initiating and developing strong relationships with customers, as well as the ability to leverage your experience selling to and interacting throughout the customer organization, including procurement personnel, business managers, sustainability leaders, and senior level executives. The ability to articulate and connect the price-value proposition of the new chemistries to customers that have never transacted with Ingevity. This requires your being at ease in the technical arena to effectively communicate the technical elements and benefits of our product in order to effectively advance the sales process. Just as you need current information & breaking news to best manage your accounts, so do we to manage our business. We are looking for a consummate communicator, who is committed to quickly disseminating important information that is uncovered and keeping Salesforce.com updated with account information, call reports, and pipeline opportunities. You will be accountable for forecasting for your customer relationships, which means timely & accurate updates into our demand planning system & working in concert with our sales & operations planning team. The best ideas aren’t always obvious…we are looking for a critical thinker who is constantly curious and asking genuine questions. This skill will help you identify underlying issues & synthesize better action plans to look beyond the tactical. Face time is critical in establishing and maintaining durable relationships expected travel is 50-75%. What you need to succeed: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Chemistry or a business degree in combination with technical sales experience is required 5-10 years of experience within sales, engineering, business development or other applicable experience within the oleochemical space is required Collaboration in a global organization Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new markets/applications, including defining the best technical value proposition for customers Ability to innovate and provide creative solutions to serve customers’ needs and desires.
