Part-Time Therapy Billing Specialist (Mental Health)

Schedule: 20–25 hours per week, flexible weekday hours

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Therapy Billing Specialist to join our warm, client-centered team. You will be responsible for overseeing insurance claim submissions, payment posting, and key administrative functions that support our thriving therapy practice. The ideal candidate has strong billing experience in outpatient mental health, enjoys working with families and therapists, and is proficient in Simple Practice.

This is a part-time position with a built-in growth path—starting at $18/hr and increasing to $20/hr after six months. Flexible schedule and a supportive, family-oriented workplace included.

Responsibilities And Duties

• Submit and manage private insurance claims (no Medicaid or Medicare)
• Post payments and reconcile Explanation of Benefits (EOBs)
• Follow up on denied claims and manage appeals as needed
• Verify insurance benefits and client eligibility
• Maintain accurate billing records and generate internal reports
• Respond to client billing questions with empathy and clarity
• Collaborate with therapists and administrative team for accurate documentation
• Credential new clinicians with insurance panels and track credentialing timelines
• Manage and update professional liability insurance records for clinical staff
  
  

Required

Qualifications and Skills

• 1 year experience in therapy or medical billing (preferably mental health)
• Proficiency in Simple Practice or similar EHR/billing software
• Strong understanding of private insurance billing procedures
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
  
  

Preferred

• Knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 coding in mental health
• Certification in medical billing (CPB, CMRS, CPC, or equivalent)
• Experience managing provider credentialing and liability documentation
• Prior experience in a group practice or therapy clinic
