The Inova Schar Cancer Institute is seeking an outstanding candidate for our Benign Hematology program. The successful candidate would join a growing group of 24 specialized Hematologists and Medical Oncologists at the ISCI, which is located in the Northern VA suburbs of Washington, D.C. The physician will care for patients with hematologic disorders, delivering coordinated, multispecialty care to patients with non-malignant diseases, in the outpatient and inpatient settings. Our employed physicians are disease-focused specialists who actively participate in clinical and translational research, the education of students, residents and fellows, all while practicing in a well-run, successful non-profit health system that offers competitive physician salaries. The Cancer Institute and its faculty advance clinical, genomic, and translational research. We have a robust clinical research office supporting industry-sponsored, NCI and investigator-initiated clinical trials.
The successful candidate will work at our main cancer center as well as at one of our regional sites. The brand new, state-of-the-art Inova Schar Cancer Center, a 340,000 square foot facility offering an award-winning architectural and patient experience environment with all aspects of cancer care included under one roof. This includes a 60-chair infusion unit, as well as a radiation oncology department with all available modalities, including the only proton radiation facility in Northern Virginia. The Cancer Center is located across the street from the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus, a level 1 trauma, 900-bed hospital that hosts its own residency and fellowship training programs (including in hematology/oncology starting in 2021), and also trains a third of the medical students from the University of Virginia during their third and fourth years of medical school. The Cancer Center, located in Fairfax, VA is less than 10 miles from Washington, D.C.
