Job Summary
This position is responsible for providing success, transition, academic advising, and retention services to promote student success.
Responsibilities
- Advises students. (40%)
- Provides academic advisement to students.
- Creates and modifies schedules for incoming freshmen.
- Provide academic advisement to active military, veteran, and dependent students.
- Assists students with course selection, registration, and schedule revision.
- Monitors and tracks advisee progress.
- Maintains correspondence with advisees concerning appointments and other matters.
- Refers students to campus and community resources.
- Processes drop/add forms, withdrawal forms, registration, name changes, and changes in programs of study.
- Assists students with changes in majors.
- Work collaboratively with other University departments to provide holistic student advisement and support.
- Collaborate with university constituent groups to advance Momentum Approach priorities.
- Responsible for student retention through intentional outreach initiatives, intrusive advising, and academic partnerships.
- Provides administrative support for dual enrollment students. (20%)
- Process admission for dual enrollment students through the use of the Banner Processing System.
- Provide academic advisement, registration, and orientation to dual enrollment students.
- Provide academic support through administration of testing options.
- Process dual enrollment funding applications.
- Coordinate the delivery of course resources with Auxiliary Services.
- Guides and mentors academically at-risk students. (20%)
- Provides academic advisement and counseling to students.
- Oversees the early alert system to identify at-risk students.
- Refers students to campus and community resources.
- Coordinates the development of individualized academic recovery plans for students.
- Monitors student success and compliance with recovery plans.
- Assist with public relations for the department. (10%)
- Promote FYE-sponsored events on all social media outlets.
- Guide best practices for virtual communication and virtual engagement.
- Assist with preparing departmental materials, publications, and presentations.
- Performs a variety of related duties. (10%)
- Including but not limited to new student orientation, STORM Day, registration days, and Parent/Family programs.
- Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field required.Master¿s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience required.
- Knowledge of university policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Knowledge of student success principles and practices.
- Skill in decision making and problem solving.
- Skill in the completion of a variety of reports.
- Skill in the provision of counseling to students.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
