The individual will play a lead role in experimental design, materials development, pilot-scale processing, and environmental/economic impact assessments. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of wood science, polymer composites, materials engineering, and circular bioeconomy research, with strong collaboration across academia, industry, and state partners. Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities include:

  • Identification of CLT waste streams, characterization of CLT waste materials (physical, chemical, and mechanical)
  • Developing and optimizing value-added products from the various waste materials
  • Data-collection, record-keeping, experimental planning, and milestone reporting
  • The individual will collaborate with CLT manufacturers, other industry partners, and rural economic development stakeholders
