What will you do?
GO TEC:
Join our team as a summer intern for the GO TEC (Great Opportunities in Technology & Engineering Careers) program. As an integral team member, you will contribute to curriculum development and academic pathway mapping within strategic GO TEC focus sectors. Your role will involve analyzing student survey data to provide valuable insights, enabling informed program development recommendations. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to support educator training sessions, summer camps, and occasional field trips. This internship provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the future of technology and engineering education across Virginia!
Where will you work?
We are looking for staff to work onsite in Danville, VA.
Internship Requirements:
To be considered for the 2024 IALR Internship Program, candidates must be either a High School graduate (can be graduating Spring 2024) with plans to attend college in the fall 2024; an undergraduate or graduate level college student; or a recent college graduate (within the last 12 months)
Deadlines and Details:
Applications, reference letters, and relevant materials must be received by March 22, 2024 at 4:00pm (EST)
Recommendation Letters:
All applicants must submit a letter of recommendation. Your recommendation will be reviewed in addition to your application responses. Letters of recommendation should be emailed to hr@ialr.org.
Please ask your reference to include the following:
- Their relationship to the applicant (you)
- How long they have known the applicant
- Comments on the applicant’s knowledge, skills, and abilities that would make them successful in completing this internship
- Any issues, from their experience, that would prevent the applicant from successfully completing this internship
Internship Timeline:
- Candidate interviews (via Microsoft Teams): April 15-17, 2024 (please mark on your calendar)
- Intern notification of selection: April 22, 2024
- Mandatory orientation dates (ALL interns): June 3, 2024 OR June 10, 2024
- Mandatory Internship Luncheon/Presentations: July 25, 2024
Required Commitment & Pay:
- Each internship requires 224 hours* with a weekly time commitment of 28 hours, representing an eight (8) week internship term.
- This is a paid experience with professional expectations.
- Interns will receive a $3,250 stipend, paid semimonthly (stipend is subject to tax).
- The IALR Mentor and intern will set a detailed work schedule during the intern orientation.
*Interns must complete their 224 total hour time commitment by August 9, 2024. Interns are allowed one week off during the program for unpaid vacation (total time frame extended to 9 weeks). Except for this one week, the 8-week internship must be served in consecutive weeks.
IALR reserves the right to modify and/or cancel the internship program. Modifications could include a shortened timeframe with a pro-rated adjustment to the paid compensation, alternate assignments, and/or adjustments to work-site location. Internships are primarily in-person. The IALR Internship Program does not provide local housing or a housing allowance.
