Purchasing Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all company procurement activities to ensure a cost-effective and efficient supply chain. This includes developing purchasing strategies, managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and supervising purchasing staff to meet the organization's needs.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Strategy and planning: Develop and implement purchasing strategies, policies, and procedures. Analyze market trends and forecast demand.
• Vendor management: Research and evaluate potential vendors, negotiate contracts, and maintain positive long-term relationships with suppliers.
• Negotiation: Secure favorable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules with vendors through skillful negotiation.
• Process oversight: Manage the daily purchasing activities, including processing purchase orders, tracking deliveries, and ensuring timely fulfillment.
• Team leadership: Hire, train, and supervise purchasing staff, delegating tasks and ensuring performance standards are met.
• Budget and compliance: Manage purchasing budgets, track spending, and identify opportunities for cost savings. Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and regulatory standards.
• Quality control: Monitor the quality of goods and services procured and address any issues that arise.
• Record keeping: Maintain accurate records of all purchases, pricing, and vendor information.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration or a related field.
• 5 years of experience as a purchasing manager.
• In-depth knowledge of procurement principles, strategies and best practices.
• Strong skills in budgeting, cost optimization and negotiation techniques.
• Knowledge of vendor management and inventory management systems.
• An analytical mind with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
