Construction Labor Driver – CDL A

This is a remote-field role with up to 85% travel expectations. CDL A required. This position will support labor needs on project sites, including moving or transporting heavy equipment.

Ideal candidates are located in Texas or Oklahoma.

Position Summary

As a Construction Labor Driver, you will work with a safety-first team to complete under/above ground utility construction projects. This position can be physically demanding and involves working in a typically outdoor, heavy construction environment.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Hand digs or perform other manual labor duties when required or works in trenches and holes places units.
  • Lifts and/or transports material or equipment to its proper location on the job site.
  • Supports Cathodic Protection drilling teams on job sites with installation, conventional ground bed/pipeline construction, and/or deep wells.
  • Uses a variety of equipment, and other materials to construct assigned projects.
  • Performs splicing and placing of anodes as required.
  • Assembles and installs units related to assigned projects.
  • Actively participates in JSA and uses all necessary steps to complete tasks safely and ensures the safety of others working in the area.
  • Communicates with all levels of management and crew to effectively present any needs and changes.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Confidence to STOP work immediately when a problem is identified.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Management Responsibilities

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Certifications)

  • High School diploma or GED, and at least one year experience and/ or training preferred.
  • One year experience operating excavators, skid steers, and/or other heavy equipment.
  • Six months to one year experience in Cathodic Protection/Pipeline Construction, ground beds, and/or deep wells.
  • Clear and current CDL Class A driver’s license and DOT medical clearance is required.

Environmental/Working Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Must have excellent depth perception, hearing, and manual dexterity to operate all machines safely.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
  • The physical environment for this position requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions in extreme temperatures and weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.

Other Considerations/Requirements

  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically, often on short notice, and for extended periods of time.
  • Must meet minimum company requirements to operate a company vehicle and be eligible for coverage under Company insurance program.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position requires overtime/weekend/off-hours and very frequent travelling.
  • Must be able to travel up to 85% of the time.
