Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
Lead and manage a team of Industrial Engineers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to foster their professional growth and development.
Establish clear objectives and performance metrics for the team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Design & Optimization
Oversee the development and enhancement of physical operational flows and automation strategies across multiple sites, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in sorting and loading processes.
Collaborate with facility and operations teams throughout the justification, design, implementation, testing, and go-live phases of new, expanded, and relocated stations.
Standards Development & Data-Driven Insights
Drive the establishment and refinement of operating standards for core activities, promoting a culture of continuous improvement across the engineering team.
Analyze throughput, operational costs, and quality metrics, providing strategic recommendations to enhance performance and operational effectiveness.
Strategic Input & Field Engagement
Serve as a primary interface with operations and procurement teams in the analysis, justification, and selection of diverse material handling equipment.
Collaborate with automation providers and industry partners to explore innovative solutions that align with short, medium, and long-term operational needs.
Actively participate in the RFI, RFP, and RFQ processes related to automation and material handling equipment, providing technical insights and recommendations.
Regularly visit delivery stations and sortation hubs to gain firsthand understanding of operations and support the implementation of key initiatives.
Act as a consultant for operations management teams, offering expertise and strategic guidance on engineering-related matters.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; a graduate degree in engineering, project management, or operations management is a plus.
10 years of experience in engineering or operational excellence roles, with a minimum of 2 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
Experience in an automated warehouse or HUB environment is preferred.
Proficient in AutoCAD; familiarity with simulation software is a plus.
Advanced skills in Excel, with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Job Requirements
Willingness to travel to various stations across Canada.
Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
Bilingual in French and English, with a strong command of both languages for effective pan-Canadian communication.
