Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carry out cutting-edge research in physical layer and air-interface design for next generation mobile communications systems

  • Research, analyze and evaluate cellular systems and develop wireless protocol designs using

    • Theoretical and mathematical analysis

    • Link-level simulations

    • System-level simulations

  • Design and develop MATLAB based link-level, or system-level simulations for 6G and beyond

  • Investigate, survey literature, and present summaries on the state-of-the-art

  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and/or technical papers surveying state of the art, describing design and development efforts, and presenting evaluation results

  • Drive technology generation and disclosure writing and supporting patent applications and downstream support

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. student in Electrical Engineering or related field (Ph.D. preferred)

  • Experience in link level and/or system level simulations and high proficiency with MATLAB and source control tool (e.g., GitHub) is required

  • Strong background in wireless communication fundamentals

  • Familiarity with cellular systems standards (3GPP 4G LTE and 5G) is preferred

  • Research experience in wireless with a track record of peer-reviewed publications

  • Strong analytical and research skills

  • Ability to thrive in an innovative, dynamic, and research-oriented work environment

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation skills
