Responsibilities
- Interact with clients and staff members in a manner that is respectful and empowering
- Consistent and dependable attendance
- Attend all mandatory staff meetings, program meetings, and trainings
- Present a professional demeanor to the community through appearance, communication, and presentation
Essential Functions
- Provide direct services to adult male participants in the Batterers’ Intervention Programs within the community and/or Fairbanks Correctional Center
- Conduct intake interviews with prospective class participants and assess appropriateness for services including lethality
- Prepare class agenda and materials for the classes
- Co-facilitate, with partner, regularly scheduled classes
- Provide statistical reports for Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault
- Provide statistical reports for Department of Corrections
- Network and coordinate, as needed, with District Attorney, City Attorney, judicial system, DOC personnel or other agency representatives
- Maintain service records
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or closely related field; prior work experience may be used in lieu of the degree
- Knowledge of domestic violence and sexual assault
- Commitment to agency’s mission and goals
- Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures and lifestyles
- Excellent interpersonal, group, and written communication skills
- Ability to pass background check
- Proficient with computers, data base input, presentation programs and equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work or closely related field (Education Justice)
- Familiarity with Fairbanks social service agencies
- Experience in the area of teaching
Supervision: Directly responsible to the BIP Administrator
Hours: Up to 20 hours per week. Hours will vary depending on class schedule
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $22.55 - $25.37 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 20 per week
