The Baler Operator is responsible for weighing, recording, and processing all accumulated waste through the auger and baler. Essential to place carts containing waste onto scales, record weight, deduct cart weight to achieve net weight of waste. Essential to segregate core weight, and in certain circumstances, record the net core weight. Essential to feed waste materials onto the auger infeed belt, activate the belt, and monitor the process through the cyclone and baler. Essential to tend to plugups in the cyclone, climbing to the roof to unplug the cyclone. Essential to engage the auger system and essential to turn the baler off and on. Essential to operate motorized hand truck to move carts about in the hogger and baler area. Essential to unwind paper from cores and place onto scissor lift at auger infeed area, and raise lift to the auger belt level. Essential to move 100 lb. spools of baling wire onto spindles, essential to thread baling wire onto the baler. Essential to complete waste report and turn in along with waste tags to the foreman. Essential to perform cleanup activities around the auger and baler area, scraping materials from the machine area onto the floor, essential to pick up trash and debris. Essential to strip damaged rolls of paper until a usable roll is achieved. Essential to clear out the auger section if jammed, using pipe pole to unjam waste from this area. It is essential to attend any meetings as required, essential to maintain an awareness of accessing MS DS materials, it is essential to maintain an awareness of obligations pertaining to attendance, call ins, other specific information required by the company. Essential to attend training sessions. It may be essential to work in other areas as assigned. The auger infeed table is at a 30" vertical height, belt control buttons and switches at the auger are a 62" to 66" vertical height, the scale touch pad is at approximately a 78" vertical height and above the auger controls. An extended forward reach at a 3' vertical height is required to unjam the auger area. The baler control buttons and switches are at a 5' vertical height, the baler spools are stationed at a 10" to 40" vertical height. Three sets of steps, totaling 29 steps, are required to access the roof cyclone.
