Job Description
The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible to provide comprehensive health services to DOS,
DOD, and contractor personnel stationed in Iraq. The MLT performs lab tests and procedures, mostly
comprising of microscopic, bacteriological, hematologic, immunologic, and chemical diagnostic analyses on
samples of tissue, blood, urine, stool, synovial fluid and semen. The MLT looks for clues to the absence,
presence, and extent of the causes and progression of diseases through accurate and efficient lab tests.

Job Description
The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible to provide comprehensive health services to DOS,
DOD, and contractor personnel stationed in Iraq. The MLT performs lab tests and procedures, mostly
comprising of microscopic, bacteriological, hematologic, immunologic, and chemical diagnostic analyses on
samples of tissue, blood, urine, stool, synovial fluid and semen. The MLT looks for clues to the absence,
presence, and extent of the causes and progression of diseases through accurate and efficient lab tests.
- Collect and process biological specimens for laboratory testing.
- Conduct routine and specialized tests in hematology, microbiology, chemistry, and blood bank.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and troubleshoot any technical issues.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean laboratory environment.
- Record and report test results accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with pathologists and other medical staff to interpret results and ensure quality patient
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Actively participates in Mass Casualty exercises and events.
- Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are

Qualifications
Basic Requirements/Certifications:
- Minimum of 3 years recent experience as Medical Laboratory Technician including 6 months within the last
- Certified as a medical laboratory technician through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP),
(NCALP) or the Board of Registry of the American Association of Bioanalysis (AAB).
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
- Experience on a military site working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor is preferred.
- Associate's degree in medical laboratory technology or related field.
- Must meet pre-deployment physical requirements.
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.

- US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
- Valid US Passport with at least 18 months before expiration date. Must maintain a current passport during
