POSITION SUMMARY:


The Receiving Associate, Material Handler is primarily responsible for any and all receiving tasks during inbound deliveries, storing materials in the appropriate area and distributing items as needed to the production line, moving those materials manually or by operating material handling equipment, as well as any other tasks associated with the logistical needs of the organization. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Understand, support, and follow all necessary safety guidelines and company policies. 
  • Wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) necessary for the task being performed; ensure that PPE is functioning properly. Notify supervisor if PPE needs replacement.
  • Support your work group and all those you work with by maintaining a positive attitude, staying engaged, showing respect for others, and demonstrating a willingness to cooperate with others.
  • Receive inbound items, ensuring the manifest matches the items being received, accurate count, completing required paperwork and inspecting items for damage. Report all OS&D to supervisor, utilizing required reporting methods.
  • Ensure all manifests, Bills of Lading and other paperwork provided by the shipper or trucking company are delivered to your supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Store inbound materials in their respective locations or deliver them to the required department as instructed.
  • Must be trained, certified and skilled to operate all required equipment in accordance with established procedures.
  • Inspect all material handling equipment before use and report any defects to supervisor.
  • Report all incidents of product, equipment and facility damage caused by yourself or others immediately to your supervisor.
  • Support production lines with all material requests or as required or directed.
  • Communicate inventory control movements via discussion, radio frequency equipment or other forms of communication as necessary to ensure all relevant team members are aware of the details.
  • Perform quality checks as required. Verify to ensure the raw material requests are pulled correctly and put away in the correct locations.
  • Perform physical inventories cycle counts accurately as requested.
  • Review inventory variances. Use root cause analysis and take appropriate corrective action or notify management to resolve issues.
  • Provide development and training assistance for peers as necessary.
  • Responsible for maintaining 5S functions within the work area including daily sweeping and organizing floor and work area.
  • Consistently provide feedback regarding daily issues to management and other team members.
  • Make it your goal to maintain good attendance. You are expected to be at your workstation and ready to work at the start of each shift and after break periods. Report for work as scheduled and remain at work for the entire workday.
  • Work overtime through extended workdays or additional workdays as needed.
  • Perform other duties as necessary or when directed to do so.


Requirements

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE POSITION

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Stooping, kneeling, and squatting throughout the shift.
  • Climbing stairs as needed.
  • Frequent pulling and pushing using arms and legs throughout shift.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, twist, reach, sit, bend and lift continuously up to 10 hours per day.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent training/education required.
  • Ability to read English, write legibly and perform basic addition and subtraction of numbers.
  • Basic computer knowledge including the ability to navigate in a windows-based system.
  • Must have at least 1 year experience operating a sit-down forklift and at least 1 year material handling in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems and using RF scanners.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the skills needed to perform the essential tasks of the position safely and efficiently by passing a forklift “skill out” with our forklift instructor. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to meet company attendance requirements.
