Senior Level Designer

Intrepid Studios is looking for a passionate and talented Senior Level Designer, interested in creating brand new worlds with a brand new IP. Our Senior Level Designer would take ownership of key playable locations in the world of Verra, both interior dungeon spaces and expansive, outdoor play spaces. They will work alongside quest designers, encounter designers, and environment artists to create unforgettable places that will connect players to the world their avatar inhabits. They will help develop and grow more junior designers into industry leaders, and most importantly, they’ll bring a sharp, experienced mind that’s up to speed on all the latest industry best practices for creating intuitive and functional gameplay zones. A passion for MMORPGs is required!

Responsibilities:

• Brainstorm and create blockouts for interior dungeons and exterior points of interest for players to explore and fight in.
• Take ownership of these places to lead small teams of artists and designers to create fresh, exciting gameplay experiences.
• Use Unreal’s blueprint system to create scripted experiences with relative autonomy.
• Work with engineers to create performant, functional areas.
• Read and react to feedback from peers and the community to iterate on area layouts at every stage of development.
• Communicate, coordinate and participate in a collaborative, interdisciplinary, cross-studio team environment.
• Adaptable, detail-oriented, well-organized, and a great communicator.

Qualifications:

• 5 years of game development experience in a level designer role.
• Shipped multiplayer titles on the current generation of consoles or PC.
• Strong proficiency in-game engine editors (Unreal or Unity).
• Knowledge of visual scripting languages (Unreal Blueprints).
• Passion for games and game development.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• In-depth knowledge of deconstructing high-level gameplay systems and creative direction into specific technical details, features, and tasks.
• Ability to work in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary, iterative environment, while delivering under deadlines and time constraints.
• Versatile and regularly proving a readiness to learn new development tools and technologies.
• Professional-level Unreal 4 experience is a major plus.
