We are looking for a strong people manager with a collections and compliance background to manage our growing Compliance team.


Key Responsibilities

Department Oversight

• Oversee all areas and personnel within the Compliance Department which consists of Internal Audit, Legal, Complaints and Disputes, to ensure tasks are completed timely, effectively, and efficiently

• Oversee management and execution of internal audit processes and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and client requirements.

• Handle escalated compliance issues from employees while ensuring resolutions comply with client requirements, internal policies, procedures and regulatory laws.

• Assist in the development of the department and staff through providing guidance to employees, goal setting, leading regular meetings and supporting department initiatives


Development and Support of Compliance Program

• Support the design and enhancement of the internal audit framework and enterprise risk assessment

• Support the development and delivery of regular compliance reporting to executive leadership, highlighting key risks, trends, and program updates

• Identify opportunities for improvement and propose and execute solutions to mitigate compliance risks


Interdepartmental Engagement

• Provide internal support to senior leaders, key relationships, and cross-functional partners on complex issues related to compliance and risk mitigation.

• Serve as a point of escalation internally for issues related to compliance and risk mitigation, client concerns, and incidents associated with internal processes

• Foster strong interdepartmental relationships by working closely with various departments to integrate compliance requirements into daily processes, resolve cross-functional issues, and promote a company-wide culture of compliance.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to optimize processes and ensure alignment with compliance standards


Regulation and Compliance Oversight

• Aid in the research and monitoring of changes to state and regulatory requirements to communicate to stakeholders and implement changes to compliance processes

• Coordinate the timely update of internal policies, procedures, and training materials to reflect regulatory changes.

• Advise business units on operational adjustments required to meet new compliance obligations.

• Participate in industry working groups, webinars, and conferences to maintain awareness of evolving compliance standards and enforcement trends.


Essential Skills and Attributes

• Strong leadership and management skills of processes, projects, and people

• Maintains a considerable knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and regulatory trends

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities with limited oversight

• Ability to interpret and translate needs based on risk tolerance levels of Executives, clients, industry and direct management.

• Well-developed understanding of internal operations

• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and rapidly changing environment

• High level of attention to detail and accuracy with strong organizational skills

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities with limited oversight

• The ability to work well with others, and ability to understand, interpret, and translate technical terminology into common language

• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and rapidly changing environment

• Possesses the ability to enforce mandatory guidelines and report unbiased facts of compliance

• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

• Experience in debt collection industry and familiarity of debt collection laws/regulations a plus
