Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Activity Assistant to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for working with seniors and individuals with disabilities, and a desire to provide engaging activities that promote mental and physical well-being. This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy planning and coordinating events, and have a knack for connecting with others.
Duties:
- Plan, coordinate, and lead recreational and social activities that cater to the diverse needs and interests of our residents, including those with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
- Develop and implement activities that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and physical exercise, including but not limited to arts and crafts, games, and outings.
- Ensure activities align with the goals of our home community care, senior care, and assisted living programs.
- Collaborate with other members of our team, including social workers and healthcare professionals, to ensure that activities support the overall care and well-being of our residents.
- Provide one-on-one support to residents who require assistance with daily living activities (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, or toileting.
- Develop and maintain schedules to ensure that activities are offered at times that are convenient for our residents.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and activity outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Experience working in long-term care, assisted living, or home community care environments a plus.
- A strong understanding of recreational therapy and its applications in senior care.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with residents, families, and other team members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina to participate in activities and support residents with ADLs.
- Familiarity with dementia care and the ability to adapt activities to meet the needs of residents with cognitive impairments.
- Knowledge of social work principles and practices.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in a related field (such as social work, recreational therapy, or gerontology) preferred.

Pay: From $14.05 per hour
