Lead Experience Designer

IQVIA is the leading human data science company, providing clinical development, healthcare data and technology services to global healthcare and pharmaceutical companies.  As a part of our rapid growth in the industry, we are expanding our capabilities to provide industry leading product design services and capabilities to our Digital Product Organization (DPO).  

The Lead Experience Designer provides subject matter expertise and a high level of internal consulting support on the design of desktop and responsive SaaS products within the Product Experience Design (PXD) team. In this role, you will serve as a lead designer for a product(s), working with other design team members, and will collaborate closely with the research, product, and engineering teams, as well as responsible for meeting with product teams to understand business requirements and user needs. You will own the design deliverables related to the roadmap and are responsible for meeting with the Director to align the product strategy as well as manage methods in the design process to create those deliverables. This position reports to the Assoc Director, Experience Design. 

Core responsibilities: 

• Lead the experience strategy and design execution for a solution, product or undefined problem space 
• Lead the design for your product, collaborate with Product team, and remove obstacles 
• Own the conceptual development and delivery of design artifacts to create user-validated products 
• Assist Director with how design contributes to KPIs and success metrics 
• Communicate ideas through user flows, wireframes and prototypes 
• Execute on all design stages, from concept to visual design and specifications 
• Be able to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast paced, independent environment 
• Be self directed, self motivated, organized and disciplined 
• Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. 
• Focused on the experience, aesthetic, interaction, and functionality of a product. 
• Create internal/external company web pages including graphics and functionality. 
• Work independently, and with the UX Research team, to perform usability testing to understand mental models, user needs, and patterns of behavior to test assumptions and inform the design. 
• Resolve conflicting end-user requirements through user research and testing. 
• Work collaboratively with product owner to prioritize, design, and backlog design requests. 
• Drive and ensure consistency and adherence to the design system standards. 
• Continually evaluate the design processes, trends, and industry best practices resulting in products end users love to use and put forward business cases and proposals to support these initiatives. 
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with others in and across the organization to accomplish team goals  
• Help cultivate a collaborative environment. 
• Be a champion not only of great design but of IQVIA itself 

Required Experience:

• 3 years product design experience 
• A strategic and creative mindset with excellent judgement and analytical ability, to ensure that products are shipped with the best user experience within the given technical and business constraints. 
• Ability to have an empathetic, human-centric approach to analysis, with working knowledge of usability and accessibility standards. 
• Ability to understand and incorporate complex technical and business requirements into research and design. 
• Can influence direction and decisions related to scope and requirements. 
• Excellent visual design skills 
• Experience in product design, delivering responsive and/or mobile customer-centric SaaS solutions 
• Experience in creating wireframes and prototypes 
• Proficiency with at least one visual design tool and one wireframing tool 
• Up-to-date with the latest UI trends, techniques, and technologies 
• Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills. 
• A strong desire and eagerness to be curious, inquisitive, and innovative. 
• Fluent in English, writing and speaking 
• Outstanding portfolio that shows a variety of projects, creative processes, and final designs including cross-functionally, thinking strategically across the end-to-end experience, and shipping successful experiences in a fast-paced environment. 

Preferred Experience:

• Proficient in Figma 
• Basic understanding of html, css, js 
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process 
• Experience working on the same product for several iterations 
• Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, and/or healthcare industries 
• Passionate and knowledgeable about all aspects of creative/design, brand-building, and the IQVIA brand 

Education Required:

• Bachelor's degree in HCI, design, design-related field or equivalent work experience

The potential base pay range for this role, when annualized, is $105,200.00 - $175,400.00. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
