What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Custodian position at Irasburg Village School?
Irasburg Village School is seeking a Head Custodian for a full-time position (8 hours/day; 261 days/year). The Head Custodian will be responsible for maintaining the operation and appearance of the school and grounds to a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency. Salary and benefits commensurate with experience.
Qualifications:
1.High school diploma or equivalent.
2.Knowledge of electrical, security, plumbing, ventilation and heating systems.
3.Knowledge of regulations on maintenance of public school facilities.
4.Knowledge of cleaning, sanitation and recycling procedures.
5.Responsible, self-directed and dependable work habits and excellent time management skills.
6.Good interpersonal skills with staff, students, administration, board, community, vendors and technical service providers.
7.Working knowledge of school policy and procedures, including confidentiality code.
8.Basic knowledge of personnel supervision.
9.Physical capacity to sufficiently to perform required duties.
10.Availability for response to building needs on weekends, holidays and evenings, as may be needed.
Performance Responsibilities:
1.Opens building each school and in-service day; opens/closes building on weekends and non-school days, as needed.
2.Acts as first contact person for maintenance and security needs: 24 hours/day; 365 days/year. (Substitute contact person may be arranged with principal.)
3.Maintains the interior of the school including cleaning, security, plumbing, ventilation, heating and electrical systems, and oversees the work of technical service providers.
4.Maintains the exterior of the school including playground equipment and snow removal on sidewalks during the days the building is in use.
5.Schedules work during school year, summer and vacations.
6. Develops and manages maintenance budget with the principal, maintains inventory and follows purchase order procedures in ordering supplies and fuel (oil and wood chips.) Receives and stores deliveries of supplies.
7. Sets up and takes down tables for breakfast and lunch, cleans the gym floor.
8. Sets up furniture and sound system for school community events.
9. Assists staff with gathering materials for special projects.
10.Manages recycling.
11.Completes other related tasks and duties as assigned.
