The peer support specialist at Isaiah House are responsible for assisting clients with their recovery needs daily through the sharing of emotional support. Roles and Responsibilities:
The peer support specialist at Isaiah House are responsible for assisting clients with their recovery needs daily through the sharing of emotional support. They will be required to facilitate groups and meet with clients in a individual setting very frequently, in addition to the duties and responsibilities listed in the job description. Roles and Responsibilities:
- Follow all applicable regulations including 908 KAR 2:220. Adult peer support specialist
- Complete a Release of Information (ROI) with each client that allows the peer support specialist to access the entire clinical chart.
- Successfully complete, maintain, and submit a minimum of six (6) hours of related training or education in each subsequent year.
- Provide peer support services in an individual and group setting;
- Use relevant personal stories to assist clients through experience;
- Serve as a role model to the client;
- Encourage client voice and choice during development and implementation of plans;
- Support a client by:
- Attending team meetings on behalf of the client at the request of the client; or
- Accompanying the client to meetings upon the client’s request, if applicable;
- Empower a client to have the confidence to be a self-advocate;
- Help providers or other individuals understand the importance of integrating client voice and choice in services and support within a system of care;
- Promote socialization, recovery, self-advocacy preservation, and enhancement of community living skills for clients.
- Scheduling Peer Support groups as needed
- Communicating with Vice President of Programs and clinical Director for scheduling needs
- Communicating with Vice President of Programs and Clinical Director for Peer Support Certification needs.
- Reviewing and approving time of Peer Support Specialist
- Completing annual reviews and 60 day reviews of Peer Support Specialists
Additional Responsibilities include:
- Communicate effectively with all staff via daily briefing/debriefing, as well as progress tracker.
- Mediate between client, client’s family, provider, and case team when there are unresolved issues.
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of documents in client’s clinical chart and case file if applicable.
- Maintain awareness and knowledge of necessary information related to medical appointments, court dates, intakes, GED / educational classes and employment.
- Thoroughly understand and explain Isaiah House Policy and Procedure/HIPPA.
- Report to and fill in when needed as requested by Clinical Director and Program Director.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
