Island Woodcrafts, a growing high-end custom cabinet and woodworking company in the Outer Banks, is seeking an experienced Finish Department Manager for our Wanchese facility.
This is a key leadership role responsible for driving finish quality, managing daily department operations, and ensuring every project meets our standards of craftsmanship, consistency, and excellence. The position works closely with the Owner/Master Craftsman and Operations Team to maintain world-class finish results on custom cabinetry and architectural woodwork.
We are looking for an honest, dependable, detail-driven leader with strong technical finishing knowledge, a hands-on mindset, and a passion for high-end custom work.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage daily operations of the Finish Department
- Maintain and enforce high-level finish quality standards across all projects
- Schedule, prioritize, and balance workloads to meet production deadlines
- Supervise, train, coach, and mentor finishing staff
- Provide hands-on support with staining, painting, sealing, and topcoat processes when needed
- Troubleshoot finish issues and solve problems in real time
- Collaborate closely with Production and Shop Management to keep workflow moving efficiently
- Perform and support quality control throughout the production process
- Work with vendors to order finishing materials and evaluate new products
- Monitor material usage and assist with inventory and ordering
- Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and professional finish department
- Promote accountability, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement within the team
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience as a Finish Manager, Finish Supervisor, or Senior Finisher
- Extensive knowledge of wood finishing techniques, stains, paints, and clear coats
- Experience with spray equipment, finishing systems, and production workflows
- High attention to detail and strong craftsmanship standards
- Strong leadership, organization, and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced custom shop environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Growth mindset with a desire to improve systems, quality, and team performance

Requirements
- Valid NC Driver’s License
- Ability to pass a background check
- Positive attitude and team-first mindset
- Ability to commute to Wanchese, NC 27981 (Required)
- Willingness to relocate to Wanchese, NC prior to start date (Required)

- 8-hour shifts
- No nights
