The mission of the Israeli American Council (IAC) is to build an engaged and united Israeli-American community that strengthens our next generations, the American Jewish Community, and the State of Israel.

Since its foundation in 2007, activism and civic engagement have been one of IAC’s core organizational pilOCrs, with the goal to organize, educate, energize, and mobilize local communities in support of Israel and the Jewish people.

In recent years, the IAC gained specific expertise in educating teens and teachers and dealing with incidents at the public school system, while expanding a network of IAC activist communities across the nation.

The combination of vast experience and national infrastructure, uniquely positions the IAC to fight one of the greatest challenges facing our community.


About IAC Activism

The IAC holds a cutting-edge network of local-hubs, that organize, educate, energize, engage and mobilize local communities in support of Israel and the Jewish people with an emphasis on the public education system. We believe that activism is effective the most when the community is at the front, empowered with all the necessary tools and support. For that, the IAC leverages our network of local communities and committees across the country for grassroot mobilization. We also leverage IAC’s nationwide leadership programs and alumni to educate, train and activate Israeli American change agents.


ACT & IMPACT is IAC’s strategic educational program established to empower teens with the abilities to address and take charge of leadership roles when facing instances of antisemitism and anti-Zionism within their schools and communities. ACT & IMPACT inspires teens to act by blending interactive physical and digital elements, that provide engaging and immersive experiences, while educating participants on how to counteract acts of antisemitism.


Job Purpose:

The OC Activism Manager’s goal is to be the professional activism resource for the Orange County region, leading all activism-based activities and efforts on the ground, including but not restricted to: ACT & IMPACT educational programs such as teen ambassadorship and parent task-forces, activism committees, local School Watch related events, relationships with schools and Jewish orgs, training sessions in the community, events, online campaigns local mobilization efforts and activism grant writing. In addition to the regional work, projects & responsibilities are to be expected as part of the national Activism team efforts.

The OC Activism Manager must sustain close relationships with members of the national Activism team, the local stakeholders in the region and partner communities & organizations in the pro-Israel space. The Activism Manager will report directly to the National Director of ACT & IMPACT and will work closely with the OC Regional Director.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Marketing, recruiting & leading ACT & IMPACT (teen ambassadorship, parent task-force, educational efforts).
  • Steering Activism Committee and handling relationships with committee members.
  • Assistance with fundraising for local activism activity in OC including grant research and writing.
  • Training and educating community, educators and local public schools through ACT & IMPACT / School Watch.
  • Assisting with local School Watch incidents and managing long term relationships with districts and schools.
  • Leading national activism efforts on the ground, e.g. 6 Million Steps and B&W buildings.
  • Creation of an engaging activist community through events, workshops, speakers and mobilization efforts.
  • Management of strategic partnerships and coalitions. Establishment of new relationships with schools, campuses, synagogues, community groups and pro-Israel organizations.
  • Recruitment and cultivation of a local community of volunteers who want to engage in pro-Israel activities.
  • Growing current activist pool by converting training participants into activists.
  • Advocating for community members in need when faced with antisemitism and national origin discrimination.
  • Management, operation and growth of online assets, e.g. Newsletters, Facebook, Twitter, etc.
  • Monitoring the region for antisemitism and anti-Israel behavior and mobilizing the community accordingly.
  • Collaboration with relevant IAC programs, e.g. Gvanim, Eitanim (teens), Mishelanu (students) etc.
  • Participation in both local and national team efforts to achieve organization goals.
  • Serving as a knowledgeable resource to community members in need, attend Israel-related events and provide support and strategic consultation when needed.
  • Leading national projects within the activism team


Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Excellent leadership & strategic planning capabilities. Emphasis on superb interpersonal skills.
  • 3 years’ experience in the field of Israel activism, or antisemitism education.
  • Experience working with teens.
  • Proven project management capabilities and success in execution of complex strategies.
  • Deep understanding of the pro-Israel activism landscape, including community mobilization.
  • Experience in public speaking and group dynamics.
  • Experience in fundraising / grant writing.
  • Excellent verbal, writing and presentation skills.
  • Strong PR/marketing capabilities, including proficiency in social media platforms.
  • Connection to Israel and passion about advocating for her.
  • Ability to work Flexible hours, under pressure, as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent technological skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, Social Media Platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc).
  • Fluent in English - full comprehension, speaking, writing, reading. Fluency in Hebrew an advantage.
