Veterinary Assistant

Ithaca Animal Hospital, a multi-doctor, small animal practice in central Michigan is searching for a veterinary assistant to join our team.

Qualifications/experience:

• Veterinary software knowledge and prior experience working with animals is required
• Positive, outgoing team players
• Exceptional communication and multi-tasking abilities
• Detail-oriented individuals with great organizational skills
• Individuals who take initiative
• A willingness to help others

Primary responsibilities:

• Client service and communication
• Patient handling and restraint
• Blood draws
• Administering medication, vaccines, and injections
• Pharmacy duties
• Microscopic evaluation
• Welcoming and discharging patients
• Collaboration with other team members
• Attention to detail and awareness of surroundings, noticing areas of need within the practice

Extra consideration will be given to candidates who are willing to cross-train as a veterinary receptionist. Primary front desk responsibilities include:

• Managing phone lines
• Booking appointments
• Setting up new clients and patients
• Over-the-counter sales
• Financial transactions
• General front desk duties (email, faxing, filing, etc.)
• Ensuring that the reception area of the hospital is always clean and presentable
