As a key member of the Strategic Marketing leadership team, the Product Manager will report directly to the Director of Strategic Marketing and will be responsible for strategic and tactical Product Management which delivers customer-focused solutions for ITW Hartness equipment. Primary responsibilities include playing a key role in the development of the ITW Hartness product strategy by following the ITW 80/20 FTB business process, aligning the organization to this strategy and supporting the Commercial execution to our Annual Plan and Long Range Plan targets. Product Management ensures our 80 (priority) products are highly differentiated, priced based on the value we create for our customers, and we have a clear long term product roadmap based on the Customer Back Innovation (CBI) framework. The ideal candidate will have in-depth packaging experience in the Food, Beverage and Personal/Household Care industries, as well as demonstrated influencing skills including partnering with adjacent organizations to achieve business goals.
This position will be based at our headquarters in Greenville, South Carolina.
The Product Manager will develop and execute the marketing strategy for the ITW Hartness product lines. This position is responsible for creating product strategies through a deep understanding of the customer needs, product portfolio, and technology capabilities in conjunction with key stakeholders (Engineering, Operations, Sales, and Accounting). This role will oversee and support the successful Commercial execution of our product strategy to meet AP and LRP targets.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Lead North America Voice of the Customer (VOC) to understand market needs/wants and prioritization to later drive future products requirements and financial models to support opportunities for ITW Hartness equipment.
- Use data to ensure the VOC is present in product and marketing decisions, and measure channel and sales effectiveness.
- Develop product competitive analysis to understand advantages and gaps and drive appropriate actions.
- Identify customer pain points and follow ITW Hartness processes for launching and driving related Innovation projects.
- Work alongside a high-performance engineering team though all Innovation stages to ensure strong competitive differentiation while also meeting time to market expectations.
- Capture and communicate market research, including Total Available Market (TAM), segment growth, and market trends.
- Create customer value propositions and provide data and content that can be leveraged by the marketing communications and sales team.
- Partner with the Marketing Communications to create and maintain marketing plans, advertising and sales tools including brochures, product descriptions, technical data sheets, web content, etc.
- Support customer meetings, customer trainings, trade shows (attendance and speaking), industry thought leadership and other activities.
- Perform market research, competitive analysis and business data (unit volumes, revenues, margin) reporting to understand business trends and make informed decisions for current and future product direction of ITW Hartness.
- BS in Business Management, Marketing, or Engineering - MBA a plus
- 5 years of overall experience in Product Management, Product Strategy, Marketing, and/or Product Development
- Team player capable of developing relationships and collaborating with others, including sales/marketing teams and multiple levels of management
- Highly motivated individual with a results-driven orientation, capable of multi-tasking within a dynamic organization
- Proven track record of working independently and with sales/marketing teams and multiple levels of management
- Experience leading a team (directly or indirectly)
- Proven ability to collect, combine, and analyze financial, product, and market data and draw actionable conclusions
- Experience collecting voice of customer feedback, identifying customer value propositions, developing new products, and creating marketing campaigns and programs (including digital marketing).
- Ability to effectively communicate with others, including experience presenting to customers and executives
- Packaging experience in the Food, Beverage and/or Personal/Household Care Industries (preferred)
- Willing to travel up to 20%
