J.A. Heisler Contracting Co., Inc. is an established commercial construction firm and we are seeking an additional Project Superintendent to join our team.
Type of Projects:
Projects range from all types of commercial renovations to buildings out of the ground such as bank branches, medical office buildings, and warehouses. A large part of our work is medical related and ranges from medical/dental office build out/renovations to major hospital renovations. Our projects are typically located within one hour of Richmond.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate all construction activities.
Maintain and execute the project plan as laid out by the Project Manager.
Schedule subcontractors, etc. and ensure compliance with schedule, plans, and specifications. Read and understand project specifications and construction drawings.
Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment by adhering to all safety and housekeeping practices and regulations. Maintain safety meeting records.
Knowledge of VOSH/OSHA requirements and how to successfully participate in an VOSH site visit.
Manage equipment, deliveries, roll off containers, portable toilets, etc.
Manage, store, and protect all on-site materials, tools, small and heavy equipment.
Draft Requests for Information to Project Manager for submission to engineers, architects, and owners.
Advise Project Manager of potential problems, work interferences, or schedule difficulties while assisting in circumventing/resolving such conflicts; anticipate and resolve project issues and schedule difficulties.
Identify any issues or problems before they arise.
Oversee quality control as determined both by industry standards, the contract documents, and the expectations of our customers.
Create written daily log reports and progress photographs.
Coordinate municipal building department inspections.
Maintain accurate and up to date As-Built drawings.
Engage and build relationships with our customers, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
Must haves:
Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 lbs.
Must be able to climb ladders and stairs repeatedly throughout the workday.
Valid driver’s license.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
Ability to give, receive, and follow directions.
Computer skills for email, Microsoft Office suite, and Procore.
Be able to successfully complete and pass a criminal background screening, pre-hire and random yearly drug test, and driver's license check.
Completed high school. Some college preferrable.
Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction industry, preferably in a supervisory position.
Experience with hospital infectious control and experience with constructing buildings out of the ground is a plus.

Salary range dependent on experience and qualifications. $78k-$88k typical, $100k for outstanding candidates.
