Description Company Overview: JB Martin Company is a growing, fully integrated, vertical textile mill in South Carolina with weaving, dyeing and finishing capabilities. With a commitment to innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction, we are looking for a hands-on leader with previous textile experience to run our Maintenance Department. This role includes training, planning, scheduling and team development.
Job Description: The Plant Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the efficient operation and maintenance of all textile production equipment and processes. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in textile engineering, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to implement process improvements to enhance production efficiency and product quality. The hours for this position will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST, Monday-Friday.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Equipment Maintenance and Optimization:
    • Oversee the maintenance, repair, and optimization of textile production machinery and equipment.
    • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to equipment and production processes.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Analyze current production processes and identify areas for improvement.
    • Implement process optimization strategies to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
    • Collaborate with the production team to develop and test new methods and technologies.
  • Quality Control:
    • Ensure all products meet the company's quality standards and specifications.
    • Monitor production processes to identify and address quality issues promptly.
    • Work with the quality assurance team to implement and maintain quality control systems.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure all operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
    • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the plant.
    • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Project Management:
    • Lead and manage engineering projects from conception to completion.
    • Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
    • Prepare project budgets, timelines, and reports.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Provide technical guidance and support to the production and maintenance teams
    • Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
    • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Requirements Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Textile, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a textile manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of textile production processes, machinery, and equipment.
  • Proven experience in process improvement and project management.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Proficiency in using engineering software and tools.
  • Good understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Facility Maintenance/Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Knowledge of sustainability practices in textile manufacturing.
