J. G. MacLellan Concrete Co., Inc. has an opening in its Quality Control Department for a Quality Control Assistant Manager. J. G. MacLellan is a 57 year old family owned and operated Equal Opportunity Employer. We provide high quality concrete and aggregates to a wide range of customers throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire and Southern Maine.
Responsibilities include:
Extensive knowledge of concrete materials, including aggregates, cements and admixture products.
Performance of testing of ready mixed concrete and materials to ensure quality of the product and adherence to project specifications.
Laboratory testing of constituent materials and concrete samples
Ability to communicate in a timely manner test data to quality control department and management.
Requires a working knowledge of concrete and aggregate testing procedures.
Must have or be prepared to obtain necessary ACI Certifications and NETTCP Certification.
Manage mix designs and monitor mix performance.
Prepare reports, statistical analyses and mix submittals as required.
Extensive travel to plant locations and project sites to conduct testing. This could include early mornings, weekends and night work as necessary..
Skills Required
Ability to multitask and prioritized assignments.
Ability to maintain accurate records and detailed product information.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Troubleshooting abilities - to evaluate and analyze conditions to efficiently find a resolution to a problem, and to communicate the resolution to both the internal production team and to a customer as necessary.
Strong computer skills to include Word, Excel and other programs. Knowledge of Command Series a plus.
Applicant should have some mechanical skills and abilities.
Some heavy lifting will be required.
Valid license to operate a company vehicle.
Ability to work as part of a team. Ideal candidate would be a self starter with a motivation to learn, grow and advance within the department and company.
Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Geology or a relate field is preferred. Potential to waive degree requirement for a candidate with extensive prior experience
