Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, as well as the ability to provide financial insights that drive business decisions. This role involves preparing financial statements, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The CPA will also play a key role in mentoring junior staff and contributing to the overall financial strategy of the organization.
Duties
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
- Oversee tax preparation and compliance activities
- Provide financial analysis and forecasting to support corporate finance initiatives
- Assist in budgeting and cash flow analysis for effective financial management
- Mentor junior accounting staff, fostering their professional growth
- Maintain accurate general ledger accounting records, including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, or similar tools for efficient financial reporting
- Ensure adherence to SOX compliance and other regulatory reporting requirements
- Engage in non-profit accounting practices when applicable
Skills
- Strong knowledge of financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting, and financial report interpretation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting
- Familiarity with securities law, wills, trusts & estate law, governmental accounting, and corporate accounting practices
- Experience with auditing processes and public accounting standards
- Excellent analytical skills for account analysis and financial management tasks
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to stakeholders at all levels
- Experience in private equity or working with LIHTC projects is a plus
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in all aspects of work
