Gardener
We are a professional horticulture organization dedicated to creating premier properties and building lasting relationships throughout the central Virginia region. We are now accepting applications for an enthusiastic, hardworking, and trustworthy individual to work in our Gardening Services department. This is a full-time position encompassing 32 to 40 hours per week primarily Monday through Thursday. Landscaping experience preferred.
The Job Will Entail:
- Developing a basic understanding of common landscape plant material including annuals, perennials, trees, and shrubs
- Identifying Virginia plant material and basic maintenance needs
- Assisting gardening crews with daily horticultural tasks, including planting, watering, pruning, and fertilizing, using hand and gardening tools
- Operating basic landscaping tools, including blowers, pruners, spades, and hoses
- Inspecting plants to assess quality and health and to identify signs of disease or pests
- Maintaining landscaping trucks, tools, and equipment in good condition to ensure that needed items are present and trucks are in proper working order for daily work
Job Requirements and Skills:
- Ability to work from 7am-5:30pm (Monday to Friday)
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
