Essential Functions:
- Implement and maintain health and safety standards to assure compliance with regulatory agencies and plant policies.
- Assist in the implementation of the manufacturing facility’s Process Safety Management program.
- Perform safety training with facility employees as assigned.
- Manage a behavioral-based safety observation program.
- Oversee the successful handling of chemicals listed on the Special Health Hazard Substance List.
- Assist in the safe and successful use of a new chemical used in an R&D project or Raw Material substitute.
- Perform incident investigations in response to near-misses, injuries, or property damage.
- Assist with routine safety drills and plant tours for local HAZMAT, fire fighters, and police officers.
- Perform respirator fit testing for employees.
- Ensure fire extinguishers, gas monitors, and eye wash stations are in working condition.
- Maintain all measurements and documentation for facility industrial hygiene policies.
- Annually review written safety programs and operating procedures.
- Other tasks assigned related to the health and safety of the facility.
Qualifications:
- An undergraduate degree in a field related to industrial safety, or comparable experience, required.
- OSHA 30 required, PSM and manufacturing experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
- Position requires a pleasant personality and excellent communication skills that allow effective communication through all levels of the company.
- Candidate must be highly organized and maintain and attention to detail at all times
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
Skills & Abilities:
- Computer Skills: Have intermediate computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Customer Service Skills: Meet internal and external commitments, respond promptly to customer needs, and solicit customer feedback to improve service.
- Work Ethic: Be dependable, trustworthy, truthful, and credible in the workplace. Display a sincere desire to provide service or assistance, follow instructions, and take responsibility for own actions. Show a commitment to doing the best job possible.
- Physical Abilities: Lift and carry 40 pounds in various packaging
Work Environment: A combination of an office environment and outdoors at a chemical manufacturing facility.
Physical Demands:
• Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – safety glasses, goggles, etc.
• Vision Near, Distance, Color, Peripheral, Depth Perception
• Sense of Sound 55 decibels, adult conversation
• Sense of Smell Able to detect odors
