Jackson Group Peterbilt is seeking a high-performing controller to support our thriving and rapidly growing, multi-state, truck dealership. This exciting position will play a crucial role in our ever-evolving corporate accounting department as we seek to improve processes, implement new systems, and better support every aspect of the business.

The successful candidate must be a superb team player who collaborates daily with the CFO, CAO, and other controllers to effectively direct the efforts of staff accountants and large accounts receivable/ accounts payable teams. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements for multiple companies, including detailed review of expense accounts, trend analysis, and projections.
- Supervise Accounting Personnel.
- Interact with Executive Team.
- Analyze and review trends and provide meaningful insights.
- Prepare and post manual journal entries to the general ledger.
- Validate and execute bank wire and ACH payments.
- Monitor and manage intercompany and related-party transactions and balances.
- Monitor new accounting guidance, analyze impacts to the company, and communicate to executive team. Help develop systems to incorporate such changes into accounting processes.
- Produce and distribute various daily, weekly, and monthly management reports.
- Play a key role in the management, facilitation, and completion of the annual financial statement audit.
- Manage and facilitate other routine audits, such as 401K, workers compensation, sales and use tax, etc.
- Cross-train with other controllers and accountants to cover duties during absences.
- Analyze consolidated invoices and contracts for proper allocation of expenses to locations and departments.
- Reconcile various balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare and file various tax returns (sales/use tax, gross receipts, FET, etc.)
- Assist with the maintenance of the company’s credit card programs, including review and posting of monthly transactions.
- Assist with certain payroll and HR matters as they relate to accounting.
- Take on other responsibilities and prepare ad hoc analyses as requested by the executive team.
- Manage teams and processes with a progressive mind-set continuously analyzing current processes and internal controls and ways to improve them.
- At least 5 years prior related work experience, including experience with common ERP or accounting systems.
- Experience implementing new ERP systems, major accounting tools, and/or software platforms is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, especially accrual-basis accounting, the matching principle, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and lease accounting (ASC 840 and 842), inventory and fixed asset accounting.
- CPA and/or CGMA is preferred but not required.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills a must (Pivot tables, xlookups, Power Query, other advanced functions)
- Ability to quickly learn and maneuver in systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-directed, highly organized, and able to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Must respect and be able to consistently meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with sales, operations, and other support teams.
- Willingness to work extended hours during peak times, such as month-end accounting close, year-end audit, and integration of new locations and businesses.
- A positive attitude and teamwork mentality are required!
- A Master's or Bachelors's degree in accounting or finance is highly preferred.
- Experience with CDK Drive is a plus.
- Database experience (e.g. MS Access, PostgreSQL) is a plus.
