Who is JAMZ?

We're a family owned and operated business currently living in the beautiful city of Cullman, Alabama!

Our family has over 30 years of combined experience in the construction industry, making us one of the most knowledgeable and skilled professionals in the business. In fact, before we moved home to Alabama, our family company was once the largest in Oregon for exterior envelope construction, and installed tens of thousands of windows and millions of feet of siding throughout the lifetime of the business, and one of the top ten remodelers in the United States for several years.

Summary of a JAMZ Application Partner

As an application partner, you will be responsible for applying seal coating, pavement markings, and installation of signs, wheel stops, bollards, and other items.

Work Ethic: We pay for an honest day's work. You will be compensated as we agree on time, every time, but we expect you to move and get the job done. You will be working in hot weather and on your feet for most of the day. You must be able to lift 40 lbs. without problem and have enough cardio stamina to work consistently through the day.

Reliability and Professionalism: Showing up on time, consistently delivering quality work, and displaying a professional attitude are vital. Success in this position requires dependability, teamwork, and effective communication with colleagues and clients.

Qualifications

LOOKING FOR EXPERIENCED LINE STRIPING CREW LEADERS! - Please apply if you have actual experience running line striping equipment and laying out parking lots!

Entry-Level Requirements: Ability to read a tape measure accurately, to read and understand simple line striping plans (we will teach you, but you must be ably to understand and utilize what we teach), and a careful attention to detail.

Good Work Ethic: Demonstrate a strong work ethic, displaying punctuality, reliability, and a willingness to work hard and consistently.

Physical Fitness: Possess the physical stamina and strength required to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy objects, working in hot and humid weather conditions, and standing/walking/moving for extended periods.

Attention to Detail: Exhibit a keen eye for detail to ensure accurate measurements, precise alignments, and quality installations.

Problem-Solving Abilities: Display the ability to troubleshoot and find practical solutions to installation challenges or issues that may arise during the process.

Communication Skills: Possess effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, follow instructions, and provide updates on installation progress.

Safety Awareness: Understand and adhere to safety protocols, prioritize personal safety, and maintain a safe working environment for oneself and others.

Willingness to Learn: Demonstrate a desire to learn and grow within the construction industry, embracing training opportunities, and adapting to new installation techniques and materials.

Common Sense Intelligence: Possess practical and logical thinking abilities, applying common sense intelligence to problem-solving situations.

Transportation: You must be able to reliably transport yourself to the worksite on time as scheduled for work. Employees do carpool and share rides, but the company, while it may at times provide some transportation, will NOT provide your personal transportation to the jobsite. Typical work week is M-F with weekends off. Any out of town work which may be required occasionally is paid with per diem.

These basic qualifications will help ensure that candidates have the necessary skills, attributes, and mindset to excel in the construction worker/installer role at JAMZ Construction.

Ability to operate tools and machinery

Construction workers must be able to use common hand tools such as a measuring tape, hammers, saws and drills. We also need workers that can operate complicated paint sprayers (computer assisted).

Familiarity with safety protocols

Laborers should be familiar with the safe use of building materials, safety protocols and proper tool handling. A familiarity with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards is critical.

Proficiency in math and reading

Construction workers should have a good understanding of basic math, algebra and geometry to make accurate measurements, calculate angles and determine adjustments to plans as they work. Reading skills are essential for interpreting blueprints, code specifications, customer instructions and other work-related documents.

Comfortable with technology

The construction industry is constantly developing new building methods and tools to make work easier and more profitable. Successful construction workers should have a desire to learn and apply new knowledge to their job.

Hand-eye coordination and dexterity

Hand-eye coordination allows construction workers to use tools without injury. Coordination also prevents costly mistakes when performing common construction tasks, such as drilling, hammering, cutting or sawing. Manual dexterity allows construction workers to move their hands quickly, hold tools and manipulate materials.

Memory

The most effective construction workers can remember important details and work independently. A good memory allows these professionals to recall critical instructions, safety protocols, technical requirements and work procedures without the need for constant reminding or, worse, constant revision.

Listening and communication skills

Working as a team is common in construction jobs, so these professionals must be able to communicate effectively to complete their building projects. Communication helps avoid costly construction errors, ensures everyone takes and gives directions, ask questions and provides updates to other team members.

Written communication, in the form of safety reports or project updates, is also important to ensure that the project tracks all incidents or successes for auditing and project management purposes.

Problem-solving skills

Construction work can be unpredictable, and a number of problems can arise due to inclement weather, broken tools, failed equipment or delayed materials shipments. Construction laborers must be able to quickly resolve problems through critical thinking as well as the analysis of options and outcomes.

Teamwork

Laborers work together on crews at construction sites. Effective construction workers can collaborate with others, learn from teammates and resolve conflict on the job.
