What are the responsibilities and job description for the Steward position at JB Duke Hotel?
The JB Duke Hotel is now seeking a Steward to join our Culinary Team. This is a full time position, requiring the successful candidate to be flexible and work varying PM shifts and varying days each week An ideal candidate will be able to work 5 days a week, 40 hours a week & 8 hours a day. Must have reliable transportation, strong work ethic & can work 3pm-11pm, 4pm-12am shifts.
Responsibilities: Managing domestic concerns as a member of the stewards. Maintaining all aspects of kitchen sanitation, and Café sanitation.
Duties:
- Report to work dressed in proper attire and on time following proper clock in/out procedure as outlined in the employee handbook.
- Ensure cleanliness and proper storage of all pots, pans, and other utensils.
- Ensure cleanliness of sink and pot area after every shift.
- Ensure proper washing and storage of all dishes, glassware, and silverware.
- Sweep and mop floors as instructed.
- Keep dish machine cleaned at all times.
- Empty all garbage and clean cans when needed.
- Supervises daily cleaning of all food and beverage areas as instructed. Including walls, ceiling,
- Assist culinary in receiving and storing of items as needed.
- Maintain rear receiving dock, trash room, & mop areas and keep in a clean & orderly fashion.
- Ensure work area is clean at all times.
- Assist Banquet kitchen with plate preparation as necessary.
- Support and participate in hotel recycling program.
- Other duties as assigned by the Executive Steward, or Culinary Management team.

Language Skills: Must have developed English skills to the point to be able to: Communicate well orally with other employees and read any labels, instructions, etc. as needed.

NOTE: This hotel operates seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day and that holidays such as
Christmas, New Years, Easter, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving, Fourth of July or any other holidays are normal working days. Business levels will determine the amount of hours you work. Understand that you may be asked to work in other departments in a related position as required. Management retains the discretion to add and/or change the duties of this position at any time.
