What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Paraprofessional position at JCFS Chicago?
The purpose of this position is to assist in the establishment and maintenance of a safe and effective educational environment for all students and staff through close collaboration with Teachers, Clinical Staff, and School Administration. This person will :
- Maintain calm, helpful, and appropriate demeanor during crisis and post crisis debrief.
- Be in initial contact with staff on the floor to assist and support in crisis.
- Be familiar with, independently implement, and assist staff in implementing students' crisis support plans, including elopement protocols, behavior intervention plans and other duties as assigned.
- Collaborate with social workers and educators to improve efficiency of response protocol and procedures.
- Utilize and model various behavior interventions including (but not limited to) Collaborative Problem Solving and Ukeru to provide emotional and environmental support for students, with the goal of reducing the likelihood of a crisis.
