Job Summary:


The Compliance Specialist will directly support the Compliance Manager at DreamFields Michigan's facility in Hazel Park, MI. You will cross-functionally work with compliance, production, processing, and inventory departments to:

  • Ensure compliance with Michigan's cannabis regulations as well as DreamFields' internal policies and procedures.
  • Review and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs). Support revisions as needed.
  • Accurately gather and organize production data including but not limited to data on raw .materials, production batch records, compliance test results, and waste records.
  • Regularly audit and destroy production waste, ensuring accurate and thorough recordkeeping.
  • Use METRC seed-to-sale tracking system to accurately report waste, sample allocation, and other inventory data to the state of Michigan in real time.
  • Use production forecast to digitize and prepare printed METRC tags, finished good bin slips, and other batch-specific documentation as needed.
  • Conduct or support internal audits to identify and correct deficiencies or discrepancies, including but not limited to:
    • Ensure appropriate METRC tags are affixed to all cannabis-derived inventory daily.
    • Audit finished goods quantities reported by production.
    • Audit finished production batches once cleared by case packaging, repackage each batch accordingly in METRC.
  • Internally communicate compliance-related issues and guidance in a clear, effective, urgent manner. Assist with following up on corrective actions as needed.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Meticulous attention to detail - must be able to transcribe numerical data, label inventory, and review/verify product labeling and with a very high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills - experience with physical and/or digital recordkeeping (file management) strongly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills - must be able to both follow and provide instructions and ask questions as necessary to fulfill roles and expectations.
  • Results-driven and task-oriented - able to exhibit strong task management and prioritization skills in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Must be quickly adaptable and open to change.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • General prior knowledge of workplace health and safety standards

Education and Experience:

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • 2 years' compliance experience in highly regulated industry
  • 2 years' experience working in cannabis compliance.
  • Specific experience in cannabis cultivation/manufacturing operations strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience with METRC seed-to-sale tracking software.
  • Experience leading inspections and audits and completing corrective action plans.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite - must be comfortable reading, comprehending, and editing spreadsheets, SOPs, and other technical documents.
  • Prior inventory management experience - preferred.
  • Prior experience enterprise resource planning (ERP) software (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred).
  • Prior experience reading and understanding certificates of analysis (COAs) - preferred.
