EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR.
Performs professional level administrative work managing various Community Development funded housing and capital improvement projects from funded stage through final acceptance/closeout stage. Depending on the area of assignment, employees in this classification may apply technical review and analysis to project specifications and development initiatives. Work areas include, but are not limited to, review and analysis of community development projects; reviews proposals for financial and other project feasibility such as environmental, timeliness of completion, and other elements that may impede project completion; working with consultant during contract negotiations; and preparation of accompanying resolutions and agreements. Employees in this classification are responsible for evaluating feasibility and preparing and administering project contracts in a manner to ensure proper use of all associated funding. Position ensures compliance with and adherence to all applicable laws, standards, guidelines, and regulations. Performs related work as directed. Performs related work as required. Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.At least two (2) years of work experience managing and inspecting construction work, including housing (single and multi-family) or capital improvement projects, from the initial stages of planning and design through construction and completion. Work experience must include: involvement in bidding processes, analysis of construction proposals, fees negotiations, monitoring construction progress, and contract interpretation and enforcement.Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate. The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof.
