Description

 

Job Title:                            QA Inspector

Department:                       Quality Assurance

Reports To:                        Quality Manager

FLSA:                                  Non-Exempt

 

Summary:

Performs all required procedural steps associated with inspection to ensure all manufactured product is conforming to customers' contractual requirements and achieves impeccable quality expected by our customers.

 

Principal Responsibilities:
• Verify part count, condition and conformity to company's PO requirements, specifications and customer orders.
• Verify the first production article operations have been accomplished per the work order and customer's instructions
• Perform visual and/or dimensional inspections during the work process and upon completion to verify compliance to work order requirements
• Signs off on all of the applicable paperwork and releases the material for subsequent processing

• Completes first article inspections for internal purposes and customer requirements
• Identifies non-conforming products or parts and controls records relating to non-conformances

• Use precision measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc) and understand computer driven processes

• Accurately read and interpret blueprints fluently and understand manufacturing planning work orders
• Conform with and demonstrate leadership of JEMCO’s Quality Management System and corresponding AS9100 process specifications

• Exercise solid decision-making when evaluating conformance to drawing and contract requirement, practice problem-solving and critical-thinking skills and take appropriate actions when nonconformance issues are detected
• Maintain excellent organization systems in QA lab and practice organizational habits to maintain calibration system of all final-inspection equipment and gages

• Program and use CMM to perform in process or final inspection of parts and analyze features to GD&T requirements.

Perform other duties as they are assigned – such as empty trash bins, replacing toilet paper, and other housekeeping duties

Qualifications


Education, Training, Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • AA Degree in technical or mechanical field preferred
  • Training or job experience in Quality Assurance, and the use of precision inspection tools
  • Must have good English written and verbal communication skills
  • General proficiency on computer with data entry
  • Clear understanding of material identification, control, and traceability

While performing the duties of this job, Team Member is required to talk, listen, sit and use hands; bend, stoop, lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds; frequent requirement to stand and walk continuously throughout an 8 hours shift; work in dusty and dirty conditions; handle and store hazardous materials; lifting, carrying and repetitive arm, hand and finger motions; clean and maintain a safe working environment. Required vision abilities including close vision and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to successfully pass Background Authorization Check and Drug testing.

 

Environmental Factors:

Occasional exposure to above or below normal temperatures; exposure to chemical fumes, solder fumes, metallic dust and shavings, high decibel noise emissions. Types of vehicles/equipment, machinery, or tools on the job include: calibration tools, telephone, computers, copiers, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets, etc. Will need to wear appropriate personal protective devices including safety glasses, gloves, helmets and boots as determined by work area requirements.
