Responsibilities

  • Has a thorough understanding of our company’s products, processes, quality systems, and capabilities and is responsible for monitoring product quality and maintaining shop floor quality control.
  • Supports the manufacturing operation by ensuring that the product produced meets customer expectations and that all proper procedures are followed during the manufacturing process.
  • Responsible for CMM parts programming using Calypso.
  • Authority and awareness to disposition nonconforming product.
  • Performs first parts inspection.
  • Performs tool change parts inspection.
  • Responsible for incoming parts inspection.
  • Analyze and solve quality problems, which may include detailed and somewhat complicated drawings.
  • Prepare and inspect plans and instructions.
  • May perform the most complex assignments with minimal supervision of an inspector including first piece inspection, initiation of material defect reports, auditing of stock and return goods for defects, gage calibration and repair, bore gage settings, and record keeping of certifications.
  • Keeps the department supervisor aware in a timely manner of any issues needing the supervisor’s involvement.
  • Maintains timely and accurate records and reports, as required.

What will make a candidate successful:

  • Two years of college education in a related field or equivalent experience is required. Has demonstrated the willingness to pursue appropriate professional certifications and continuing education. Has the necessary training to be proficient in the position.
  • Experience in programming and inspecting machined parts using the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM). The qualified candidate will have had progression from an operator to programmer.
  • Calypso programming experience preferred.
  • Must have operator experience prior to move to programmer level. Must have the ability to read prints.
  • Must have the ability to use specific measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, height gages, etc.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Solidworks and Minitab skills a huge plus.
  • Must be able to set up, calibrate, and use a variety of measuring devices.
  • Has excellent computer skills and is proficient with all related company systems and programs.
  • Has strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective time management skills in prioritizing and addressing multiple and at times conflicting demands.
  • High energy with a sense of urgency in responding to customer needs.
  • High level of personal and professional integrity.
  • Is committed to the company’s values.
  • Attention to detail in maintaining required records and reports.
