The Gymnastics Director maintains all operations of the Gymnastics Department. This position manages the full and part-time staff for both the Recreational and Team Gymnastics departments and is instrumental in creating and implementing top-level programming under the direction of the General Manager of Sports, Fitness & Wellness This position is full-time and classified as exempt with benefits package.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Gymnastics Department

· Hire, train, manage, schedule, and evaluate full and part-time coaches as well as contract coaches and gymnastics staff on established customer service guidelines, business procedures, and protocols. Training staff and contractors to work appropriately with all age groups to provide a safe and secure program, and to maintain a positive attitude when dealing with members and other staff.

· Developing, implementing, and evaluating special classes, programs, and teams for children & teens.

· Responsible for the overall measurable year-to-year growth of the gymnastics department through recruiting and retaining program participants.

· Developing marketing strategy for gymnastics in cooperation with JCC’s Marketing Department including primed promotion materials as well as social media and online advertisements.

· Developing, monitoring, and reconciling budgets for classes, programs, and leagues for children, teens, adults, and older adults.

· Submitting paperwork such as payment information forms and purchase orders in a timely manner for all classes and leagues.

· Maintaining statistics on each league or class and surveying the satisfaction of each league or class.

· Being aware of the latest trends, developments, and guidelines for sports programs. Attending conferences and continuing education programs to stay current.

· Staffing all related volunteer committees. Working with lay leaders to set goals and evaluate programs.

· Developing and fostering relationships with parents, coaches, and administrators of Jewish and non-Jewish schools to help grow the gymnastics program.

Gymnastics Camp

· Direct service oversight of Gymnastics Summer Camp.

· Interviewing, hiring, training, and supervision of part-time/contract coaches and counselors. Training staff and contractors to work appropriately with all age groups to provide a safe and secure program, to maintain a positive attitude when dealing with members and other staff, and to be customer service oriented.

· Developing, monitoring, and reconciling budgets for summer camps and school break programs.

· Submitting paperwork such as payment information forms and purchase orders in a timely manner for all summer camps and school break programs.

· Maintaining statistics on each camp or school break program and surveying the satisfaction of each camp or school break program.


Cross-Department Responsibilities:

· Handle emergencies within the building quickly and efficiently – have a thorough knowledge of the JCC Manual for Emergency Planning and Crisis Management.

· Conduct monthly AED inspections and manage CPR records.

EDUCATION /EXPERIENCE:


· College degree in related area preferred.

· CPR/First Aid Certified preferred

· Minimum of 2 years’ experience in management with experience in the related field preferred.

· Detail-orientated and well-organized, with the ability to plan projects, and activities and schedule several months in advance.

· Flexible and able to handle multiple projects at the same time.

· This position requires independent judgment, initiative, and advanced administrative skills.

· The person in the position is expected to be innovative, and imaginative and provide a positive role model for members and staff.

· Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
