What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Preschool Teacher position at Jewish Council for Youth Services?
Are you a loving, creative, outstanding early childhood professional? At the JCYS Northwest Family Center, we have been providing quality part-day and full-day preschool to families on the Buffalo Grove area for almost 20 years. We are looking for a teacher who has a beautiful, nurturing rapport with children, an excellent knowledge of child development, and a passion to keep learning. Our center incorporates a play-based, developmental curriculum with a focus on social emotional development. We are a true “family center”, creating a community for our children and their parents as we address the needs of the whole child.
Job Responsibilities:
• Maintain warm, caring, and respectful attitude toward children in his/her care.
• Where appropriate, work in partnership with a co-teacher, assistant teacher, and other staff.
• Maintain consistent supervision and active involvement with children at all times. This includes: inside classroom, in hallways, playground, on buses and offsite trips. Cell phone usage is prohibited. Safety is your number one priority!
• Assist in maintaining equipment and materials throughout the Center.
• Inform Director of parent messages, complaints and concerns, accidents and illnesses, and other classroom incidents.
• Abide by the JCYS Employee Handbook and all agency policies.
• Maintain professional relationships with parents and other staff members.
Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelors Degree in early childhood education or related field
- Minimum of 2 yrs experience
- Must meet the DCFS state standards for experience/education
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Demonstrated experience in developing positive relationships with families and colleagues
- Must be able to physically interact with children, involving both fine/gross motor skills, stooping/bending, activities on playground, sitting on the floor
- A love of children
