Position Overview:
JFS is hiring a motivated, culinary professional to join our dynamic Loonin Family Kitchen team. Help to feed thousands of San Diegans by executing a daily menu planned by our team's Registered Dietitian. This position is involved in all aspects of production, including: ingredient prep, cooking, portioning and packaging, and kitchen sanitation. The Kitchen Assistant will also interact with kitchen volunteers who assist in meeting daily production goals. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 6:00am-2:00pm.
Responsibilities:
- Daily prep, cooking, portioning, and packaging of hot and frozen meals according to menu developed by team Registered Dietitian.
- Model and foster a culture of respect on the team at all times
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Follow food safety guidelines
Skills/Abilities That are a Must-Have:
- Experience in food service industry, customer service, and kitchen preparation
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions for recipes
- Ability to read, write and speak basic English
Required Formal Education and/or Licenses
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Serve Safe Certification desired
