Position Title: Coach-Mentor
Department: New American Program
Status: Temporary, Part-Time, 8-10 hours/week
Reports to: Refugee Youth Education Specialist
Jewish Family Service of Western Massachusetts (JFSWM) is seeking a Coach-Mentor to join our Youth Program team. This position will support the Refugee Youth Education Specialist and Soccer Coach with the Soccer Without Borders Afterschool Program at Emergence Academy Middle School in Springfield. The program will take place from February – June 2024 with academic support two days a week and soccer practice on Fridays. Additionally, there will be week-long soccer clinics during the school’s February and April breaks. JFSWM is hiring immediately for this position.
Responsibilities:
· Season planning (facility and transportation coordination)
· Player retention
· Soccer practice and preparation
· Academic support planning and facilitation of tutoring sessions
· Players' socio-emotional and leadership development through regular circles
· Timely monitoring & reporting (attendance, self-reflections survey, etc.)
· Family engagement (including house visits and family events)
· Other direct services as assigned
Preferred Qualifications:
· Previous soccer coaching or playing experience
· A natural leader and empathetic mentor
· Experience working with or familiarity of refugee and/or immigrant populations
· Organized with great attention to detail and great flexibility
· A high school diploma or equivalent preferred
· Reliable and responsible for attending all practices and meetings scheduled
· A car/driver’s license, acceptable driving record and willingness to transport clients when needed to assist program.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8 – 12 per week
